Hey everyone – it’s a pleasure to unveil the new Comic-Con and the Business of Pop Culture website and blog here at robsalkowitz.com, just in time for the launch of the new book. This site is the clearinghouse for events, information, reviews, press and business stuff, as well as my primary blog for pop culture, comics and future-of-creativity posts. Another great way to keep abreast of the goings-on is to like the book page on Facebook and follow me on Twitter.
For those of you interested in the subjects of my previous books, there are links to the still-active Young World Rising (youth, technology and entrepreneurship in emerging economies) and legacy Generation Blend (managing technology in the multi-generational workplace) sites, as well as ways to connect with my partners and me at our Seattle-based digital communications firm MediaPlant, LLC.
I am very excited that the new book is about to see the light of day. Comic-Con and the Business of Pop Culture brings together my personal and professional interests, examining how social and economic trends are shaping the future of entertainment worldwide. Fundamentally, it is the story of an artform, and industry and a fan community that went looking for respect, prosperity and attention. It’s about how they found it, and what happens next. I hope anyone in entertainment, media, publishing, high-tech, communications or other creative industries can appreciate the challenges that comics face in a fast-changing marketplace, and also hope that fans will enjoy an unusual discussion of the issues on the business side of comics as seen through the lens of the world’s wildest pop culture extravaganza, the San Diego Comic-Con!
